Cathedral Organ Dedication Service 20th September 6.00 pm

Monday, September 7th, 2009

The newly rebuilt Cathedral Organ is due to be dedicated on Sunday 20th September 2009 at 6.00 pm. We look forward to members of the parish, the diocese and further afield attending this inspiring event. Our Bishop, The Rt Rev Harold Miller hopes to be present to dedicate the instrument.

The Organ has been redesigned, extended and rebuilt by Mr Trevor Crowe and the experts in the field which he has drawn together from these islands. Mr Theo Saunders, Organist and Master of Scholars at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, will accompany the service and give a recital. The Cathedral Choir will sing a setting of evensong fit for the occasion.

Light Refreshments will be served after the service, in anticipation of a further significant diocesan event beginning at 8.15 pm. Forty days of Prayer, entitled 24-40, begins in the cathedral and its prayer room at this time, and will continue, going around some twelve or more venues in the diocese before ending at Down Cathedral on Saturday 31st October with a closing celebration. Further details of the event may be found at www.24-40prayer.org

Hot News! Skeagh House Saved!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Following a phone call from a person present near the meeting of the Southern Trust today, the dean was asked to ring the cathedral bell 34 times (once for each person involved/resident at Skeagh House) following the news that Skeagh House is not to be closed. Please await further confirmation before discussing this with residents, but it looks good!

Well done the Trust!
