We support South Sudan prayerfully and financially. Attached is a prayer letter from John and Poppy Spens who manage the Yei Vocational Training College now, and work with medical care in the region of Yei. Please download the prayer requests to your PC and use them for the next few weeks. John and Poppy Spens

We remember especially the Appointment of a New Archbishop.  For a godly, courageous leader who will inspire faith and action among Christians throughout Sudan. For the diocese this bishop will leave behind.

Bible Readings from TNIV

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

The new Bibles presented for use in church are from Today’s New International Version: if reading in church you may like to have your own copy with which to practise. While on line you can find the passage using the following link: Bible Gateway from TNIV

If reading in church please use the Lectern Bible and before announcing the book and verse, invite the congregation to loom up the page number, as follows:
Our First/Second Reading today is found on page XXX of your pew Bibles. [pause]
A reading from ______ chapter ______ reading from verse ____

Well done. TNIV Versions may now be ordered from the church office for personal use.

Sermon at Dedication of Bibles

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Sunday 20th January was the date when new Bibles, presented by parishioners recently, were dedicated for use in worship. Gifts of over £1000 have been given for the work of the Albanian Bible Society in connection with the launch of these pew Bibles, and we are delighted to see such generosity towards the church at home and overseas.

Short acts of dedication took place at both the 10 am and 11.30 services on Sunday morning. The slightly edited sermon file of 6MB is attached below. Based on Ephesians 6 10-20 and Joshua 1.1-9 TNIV, preached by Dean Stephen Lowry.

A Prayer for Kenya

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Lord of all,
help those whose hearts yearn for others across the sea to rest in you this day:
may all who feel the pain of Kenya from this distance be given faith to believe in the God who is able to deliver.
Please protect our brothers and sisters in Christ in Kenya from the rigors of civil strife,
and draw that divided community into the unity that is your gracious will;
For Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

Evensong at Dromore Cathedral

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Continuing and developing the tradition of regular services of evensong, the cathedral will be the venue for worship on Sunday 13th January 2008 at 6 pm. With music provided by the choir accompanied by cathedral organist David Falconer, visitors are more than welcome to attend. Hearing in the reading how the trumpets of Joshua brought down the walls of Jericho, we hope our music has a slightly less dramatic but nonetheless God honouring impact this Sunday night.

Bible Gifts Exceed Expectations

Monday, January 7th, 2008

The recent project launched to provide new Pew Bibles for use in church and to support Albanian Bible Distribution work has exceeded expectations. Gifts for over 320 Bibles have been donated and the dean has reluctantly had to request “No More!”. “It’s unusual to have to say no to people offering gifts for God’s work!” said Stephen. “We welcome further contributions for Albanian work; over £700 has been donated to this aspect of the project which is almost 20% of the funds raised. That is a wonderful side to this most successful project”

The Bibles are being delivered in the next few days and will be labeled and ready for dedication and use on Sunday 20th January. Thank you everyone!
